When you have an anemone in the garden, you're pretty much guaranteed to have bright, cheery, attention-getting blooms.

This native follows that formula perfectly, putting out open clusters of carmine-red flowers atop its bright green, fern-like foliage in May and June. Although a clump-former, it still spreads via rhizomatous underground stems to form colorful masses.

It performs best in rich, well-drained soils in part shade to part sun and is perfectly suited for woodland or border gardens.
