I've been looking for this coral bell ever since I first saw it in the late 1990s at the Morton Arboretum. A 1996 introduction by Terra Nova nursery, it was one of the first coral bells to combine ruffled foliage with silver-burgundy hues and has won award after award ever since. The foliage is tight, curly, and pewter-white with plum-colored veins and reddish-purple undersides. The new growth emerges flushed with pink, but slowly fades into silver with age. In the summer it produces light, airy panicles of greenish-white flowers in upright spires above the leaves.
As with most coral bells, drainage is the most important factor in its survival make sure that the roots don't sit in water, especially over the winter months. It's a stunning partner with yellow-foliaged plants like Hakonechloa macra 'All Gold', but I also enjoy subtle combinations with pink-hued flowers like Convallaria majalis 'Rosea' or yellow flowers like Allium moly. Pot size: 4.5"sq x 3.5" (475 ml, or .5 quarts).
